eep!

I just signed up for the GRE's, yes indeed I just layed down 140 smakaroos so that I may take a test, yooohoo.

Can you feel the sarcasm? :)

Why oh why can't education be free, I just want to learn, people, I just want to learn!

Anyhoo, so yeah I have that coming up bright and early in December and the anxiety just builds. In fact I'm off now to buy a study guide, no doubt published by the people who create the test, what a racket. Boo, I say, boo.

Hopefully test anxiety won't be bogging you down, until next time, take care!

I'm a movie star!

Well, sort of! ;)

I had an absolute blast this past weekend at the Handmade Parade put on by the one and only Norfolk Craft Mafia!

I was interviewed for their blog, and they just posted the glitzy interviews on their website. You can also check it out below:

I hope you enjoy my 15 seconds of fame! :)

and because I have nothing else to do....

..well, actually I do, but I will pretend I don't and cease in neglecting my dear blog.

First off I would like to say that I had an absolutely fabulous time last weekend at the Bizarre Market in good 'ol Richmond. I met some stellar Richmond etsyers and walked away with a great sunburn, but all and all it was fantastic!

The Bizarre Market had been out of commission for quite some time due to some very tragic circumstances, but I am soooo glad to see it back. I also found out that they are bringing the holiday Bizarre Market back too! I've already sent my application in, and if you are in the Richmond area, you should too - here is some more info in the etsy.com forums:
http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5275931

Also, I have been meaning to post about this for such a long time: I am officialy vending at The Handmade Parade, being put on by the fabulous gals at the norfolk craft mafia. This is my first juried craft fair and I am so excited, and a bit overwhelmed by all the prep work. Especially all the officialness of having to collect that pesky sales tax and all the ins and outs that come with that. Which brings me to my next bit of news...

Autumnomatopoeia Designs is an official-bonafide-fancy-shmancy-licensed business!
Yes indeed, I couldn't put that off for a second longer. I even just signed up for a business checking account and I can't wait to get that shiny checkcard with autumnomatopoeia designs spelled out in glittery letters - I will be just so tickled when I see it, that is if it is spelled correctly ;)

Excellent, you are officially updated and now no longer neglected, for the moment that is, dear blog of mine.

Now, I must return to wade through my knee deep stack of grad school paperwork and well eventually get around to crafting some more wonderful goodies.

take care, autumn

Woohooo, front page! (9/16/07)

In somewhat older news, autumnomatopoeia was featured on etsy.com's front page this past Sunday, September 16th.

Yes, yes I realize that was a day or two ago now, but it still makes me happy and I simply haven't had a chance to blog about it until now, so there.

Oh and I would like to thank orno.etsy.com for creating such a fantastic list and featuring me in it too!

I did it, I did it...

Yes! I applied to the Norfolk Craft Mafia's Handmade Parade and the Charm City Craft Mafia's Holiday Heap. Now I will eagerly await their decisions. :)

Meanwhile you can check out the awesomeness that is the Norfolk Craft Mafia and the Charm City Craft Mafia.

Too, too much!!

Ahh! There just seems to be so much going on, where to begin?
I'm working on several new bag prototypes, a midsize messanger bag with adjustable strap, made with biking in mind. I have been testing one out over the past month or so and I am in love, it just needs a few minor changes. Second a felt liver zippered pouch and larger liver bags are in the works as well. As soon as I can get some good pictures they of course will be posted.

What else? I am thinking about applying to two holiday shows, one in mid November and one in early December. My kundrum, and the reason I haven't applied yet, is that I will be taking a 5 week course over October and hopefully applying to grad school as well. This is the only class I need to start teaching for reals in the public school system, so yeah it is pretty important and I can't blow off the work for this class to craft as much as I will need to in order to do these shows. But I really, really, really want to do them, Gahhh!

One last thing that is just a bit less of a kundrum, but still a small one, I picked up another sewing machine at the good 'ol diversity thrift last weekend. I recognized the brand as a pretty good one, it worked and well was only $10. I thought all it needed was a presser foot and that would be pretty simple to find, well of course that couldn't be all. The part that holds the presser foot is missing too, and yes I have already done the ebay rounds looking for it and even posted one of those "want it now" things, but currently none of that is panning out. So if anyone can point me in the direction of finding such parts for a 'HuskyStar 207' by Husqvarna/Viking, I would adore you forever.

Well I think that is all my little fingers can handle for right now. Peace.

I promise...

...I'm still here!

What with the move, a summer graduate course and well that full time job - updates have been a bit slow to say the least!

Thanks to a terrific suggestion, I am working on adorning some neckties and creating some more, well, unisex friendly pieces so look for those now and even more soon in the shop!

Take care for now - look for sooo much more soon!
